Sensei Jean-Paul Ramillon (6th Dan), regarded as the 'Teacher of teachers' in French Judo, will be instructing at the Singapore Judo Club over the next week. All members are highly encouraged to attend his Master-class.

SJC Wins GOLD for 2011 Singapore Inter-Club Championship!

Once again, the Singapore Judo Club clinched the Singapore Inter-Club Judo Championship tittle with the score of 5-0, 5-0, 5-0, 5-0. A clean sweep in all 20 matches! Tremendous good job to the team and all supporters!!!

Also a big congratulations to all participating teams, I believe I speak for SJC when I say, its been a pleasure flighting with all of you! We've learnt a lot.

To many years of quality training! Cheers!!!

SJC 'Kagami Biraki' Ceremony 2011

The ‘Kagami Biraki’ is a Judo tradition that marks the beginning of the Dojo’s training year. This year it’s the 1st year the Kagami Biraki is practiced in the Guillemard Dojo since our relocation 2 years back.

The Singapore Judo Club had the honour to have our founding and life members grace the occasion as well.

This was truly a reunion that all of us will treasure! To many more years of Judo and Friendship!

The children coaches will prepare the children for grading on Sunday classes to ensure that your child is ready for grading. Grading syllabus/booklet will be handed out during the class.

1) March: Sunday, 6th March
2) June Sunday, 5th June
3) September Sunday, 4th Sept
4) December Sunday 5th Dec

Fee Structure (S$)
- 6th to 3rd kyu (Yellow to Blue Belt) $40

We are reviving a SJC tradition practiced in the old Portsdown Dojo. We are going to start off the year with a brilliant joint training with both the kids class and Adults class coming together for a morning of fun. We will also take this opportunity to capture the official SJC Club Photo for 2011 and will end the day with some refreshment! We wish to extend our invitation to your family and anyone who is interested in knowing more about Judo!

Singapore Judo Club Membership Card Launched!

Dear Singapore Judo Club Members, please remember to bring along your printed copy of your passport size photograph for SJC to issue your first SJC membership card.
- Tue Class: Pass photographs to Nimah
- Sun Class: Pass photographs to Cheryl Goh

This membership card doubles up as a payment record booklet as well. For every quarterly ($30 x 3months = $90) payment, you'll recieve 3 stamps.
Same size as a name card, it's small and handy to be kept in your wallet or Bag ID tag.

A very warm welcome to the Singapore Judo Club. We have recieved many enquiries about SJC's training schedule. At SJC, we conduct both Children and Adults class.Whether you are a beginner, advance player, local, foreigner etc... we always welcome you at our club. Membership Feesof $140 include (1) One time Registration of $50 and (2) Training Fees $30/month x 3 months = $90

Meet Our Coaches:

Our Coaches at SJC does an incredible job in engaging the students, making sure they not only develop their judo skills but also inculcate self-confidence, discipline and leadership. Since SJC is a non profitable club, our coaches are all on a voluntary basis. Rain or Shine, every Tuesday evening and Sunday Mornings, they take time off to coach the students. Although most of us come from different parts of the world, Iran, Canada, Japan, Singapore, UK, Sweeden, Malaysia, Australia etc, there's one common interest that binds us all together and that's our love for Judo.

SJC mourns Sensei K.S. Moothy (9th Dan)

The Singapore Judo Club mourns for Singapore Judo Legend Mr. K.S. Moorthy, a founding member and Senior Vice President of Singapore Judo Federation. Mr. K.S. Moorthy PB, PBM (9th Dan) has passed away on 11th August 2010. The Singapore Judo Club management and members would like to express our deepest condolences to his family and love ones.

About Sensei Kannapathy Sathia Moorthy, PB, PBM
Sensei Moorthy held the 9th Dan in both Judo and Jujitsu. He also held advisory positions in the International Jujitsu Institute and was also the Senior Vice President Singapore Judo Federation. He represented Malaya in Judo at the 1964 Olympic Games. In 1968 the Singapore National Olympic Council awarded him a Meritorious Service Medal to Sports and in 1972, Mr Moorthy's contribution to martial arts and the broader community was recognised with a National Efficiency (PB) of the Republic of Singapore. His contribution was again recognized in 1983, when he received a Certificate of Commendation from the Singapore Sports Council, and in 1987, when he was awarded both an International Judo Federation Medal of Merit and a National Public Service Medal (PBM) of the Republic of Singapore.

SJF Dojo Opening

The official opening of the Singapore Judo Federation Dojo (Home of the Singapore Judo Club) was held on 12th January 2010. The Guest-of-Honor for the occasion was Mr Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Mr Oon Jin Teik, CEO of the Singapore Sport Council.
